HP and OpenAI scale Frontier across enterprise work

HP Inc. announced on June 28 that it is launching a Frontier strategic partnership with OpenAI, turning an internal AI program into a wider enterprise push. The company says it has spent the past year using OpenAI's tools across software engineering, customer support, product work and employee workflows. OpenAI published its own note the same day, saying HP has used ChatGPT and Codex to redesign how teams build, test and improve products.

The partnership is not a consumer chatbot launch. It is a signal that large companies are moving from scattered AI experiments toward managed, company-wide systems. HP says Frontier combines OpenAI models with HP's internal platforms, data, security controls and workflow design. That matters because enterprise AI often fails when tools sit beside the work instead of inside the actual process. HP is framing the next phase around practical deployment: coding assistance, support operations, product development and AI-enabled PCs and services.

The clearest short-term impact is in software work. OpenAI says HP teams have used Codex to accelerate development cycles, improve code review and reduce repetitive engineering tasks. HP says the program has helped employees save time and standardize knowledge across teams.
